The Skinny
(aka Back of the Book Summary in a Sentence)
Learn 300 quick and easy ways to be happier, think more positively, and find daily satisfaction.
Nutritional Value
(aka What’s Good)
The first happiness hack is to decide to be happy. One way the book says to do this is to think happy thoughts, just like Peter Pan told Wendy. That’s right, the author makes a Disney reference! Any time there’s a Disney reference in a book, that book scores major points.
Freezer Burn
(aka What’s Bad)
Even though the hack says to pull a Peter Pan and think happy thoughts, it doesn’t actually give any examples of happy thoughts. It doesn’t really explain what a happy thought is either or its scope. Is a happy thought thinking about eating a chocolate cupcake? Or opening a dinosaur petting zoo? Or swimming in an Olympic-size pool of your enemies’ blood? I need the book to provide some examples.
Lingering Aftertaste
(aka My Prediction)
I’m predicting there will be at least 299 more hacks. I have math on my side on this one.
Taste Test Verdict
(aka Would I Read More?)
I’m actually digging this Buzzfeed-like list. It’s uncomplicated and unthreatening. And since there’s not really any order to it, you can randomly flip to any page you like and try the happiness hack on that page. Let Destiny take over!
Memorable Morsel
(aka Quotable Quote)
Maybe vampires are immortal because they’re so happy.
Positive people generally have higher levels of optimism and life satisfaction, plus they live longer.
Did you already know that positive people live longer? How positive are you in your daily life? Sound off in the comments below!

Gwen thinks that it’s as close to magic as humans can get when a blank Word document is filled with groups of letters, and those groups of letters turn into lines, and those lines turn into a whole new world.
When Gwen isn’t reading or writing, she’s drinking boba milk tea and singing along to Steven Universe. You should sing along with her.
